Beer Fest
THE STORY: While i was sitting in the Basement Bar one day, my buddy Tom B. called me up and asked if I wanted to get together and head out for a few beers (Obviously Yes). So he told me he grabbed a beer I might like and we should give it a try before we head out. I agreed, and shortly later he came over. He told me he really liked this beer and thought I might as well. He held out a Black Can and said "I have some beer from Al Chemist". I stood there and stuttered "You mean Alchemist?" I had been dying to get to Vermont to try some Heady Topper (I think I may have been drooling), but had not got a chance to as of yet. But I was confused the can was black not silver. I replied "What is it?" He handed me the can and to my surprise it was a can of Focal Banger. Mind you (Focal Banger is not allowed to be sold without drinking it on the premises of place of purchase). How he got it I will not disclose. He didn't even realize what he had in his hands. Ha (I did). I was in Heaven one of the best IPA's I had tasted as of yet. He informed me he had been drinking them and Heady Toppers the whole previous weekend. I was very jealous (LOL). Anyway we finished the Focal Banger and headed off to an Irish Pub. After sampling a Flight Deck or two and some random beers we got our tab. WTF!!!! Did we drink that much? After empting our wallets out, Tom suggested we start a tradition and do some beer sampling at our own bars and save a few $$$ and invite others to join in. We planned to start Beer Fest 1 a few weeks later (He told me he had a Heady Topper for me to try) I was very exicted! It went over so well we decided to do one every month or two.
